Steve Bruce takes charge of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light for the first time since moving from Wigan Athletic to take over as manager.

He got off to a winning start guiding the Black Cats to a 1-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Chelsea will be looking to build on Saturday’s last-gasp win over Hull City when Didier Drogba scored twice in a 2-1 victory.

For a team that is on such an abysmal run of form, the season’s end cannot come soon enough. However, for Sunderland the finish could also mean their exit from the Premier League. Defeat here at Fratton Park, principally thanks to an own goal by Phil Bardsley that owed much more to a horrendous mistake by Anton Ferdinand, still leaves Sunderland’s fate in their hands, but has given hope to Newcastle United and Hull City, the other teams who still can realistically escape the drop.
